I was recently asked to talk about making my first hundred dollars online. This was only in 2006, so the memory is still very fresh in my mind. I was sure I could make money on the internet because I saw that so many other people were doing it. I was determined to succeed and to be able to work from home or from wherever I had an internet connection.
The first thing I recommend, if you want to build your business on the internet, is to find someone who has already been successful in this area and to learn from what they are doing. Once I figured this out I was able to start making money by avoiding the mistakes that others had already made.
Spend some time every day looking at what people are writing about and selling on the internet. What will sell best for you is a digital product that is about something you are interested in or have personal knowledge about. For example, if you have arthritis, you can write or promote eBooks, audio recordings, and other information products that help people live with their arthritis.
Remember that you are a problem solver on the internet. What is it that keeps you awake at night? For me it was the fear of not having enough money to pay my bills every month. So my niche has become teaching people how to create their own products and how to promote affiliate products so they can make money while they sleep. There are so many ways to do this, that you could spend the next ten years exploring them all.
Be willing to read all you can about making money from home on your computer, and then take action. Start a blog, write some articles, and set up a one page web site. If you don’t know how to do these things, spend some time and just a small amount of money to learn how to do them. Making money online is easier than you might think, once you know how to do it.

If you have any seamstress skills, place a small ad in your local newspaper to do alterations. Bachelors are always popping a button, needing jeans patched, or want a coat zipper replaced. Prom time is a good time to advertise to sew/alter dresses. Check with your local drycleaners to see what they charge to launder/iron shirts. I believe ours gets $1.99 a shirt.
Connect with the nursing homes to see if you can repair bed blankets, hem sheets, and other mending/patching.
Daycare in your home. My grandmother was in her 70’s, babysat newborns. Feed them, burp them, diaper them, rock them to sleep. All you need is a bassinette (that you can pick up at a garage sale). Request cash.
I have cleaned house for a bachelor for the last year. I do four loads of laundry every time I go. Put an ad in the paper to do laundry in your home. Decide how you will do pickup and dropoff. Request cash.

Sell on Ebay. Dolls, clocks, jewelry,crafts, antiques. Go to garage sales, estate sales to find these items. Register on Ebay and then look to see what people are selling and the prices they are getting when the sale ends. Ebay walks you through the whole process. You don’t have to be a college graduate to do it. A farmer in Iowa could do it.
Housecleaning, pet-sitting, elderly sitting, pays me $15 an hr. You use their vacuum, their cleaning supplies, and you clean the house as if it were your own. Don’t be afraid to organize a cupboard or wipe out the refrigerator shelves.
I’ve tried Avon. You have to pay $10 for starting supplies. Then you buy catalogs, demos, samples, pay postage, gas for your car to deliver, and hope people will have the money for what they order so you’re not stuck with product you can’t sell to anyone else because the shelf life has ran out. Or, you will get those that want their money refunded. How many garage sales have you gone to that previous sales reps for Avon are trying to unload product they got stuck with?
I’ve tried Watkins Products. Good product. $60 to get your kit, then $30 a year to keep your rep status. You make 25% of everything you sell. However, Watkins has undercut their reps by putting their products in Walmart, Fareway Grocery, and Theisen’s Farm Supply here in Iowa. What I have to sell for $4.99, these stores can sell for $1.88 to $3.49. What I have to sell for $8.99, these stores are selling for $6, because they can buy volume.
Make and sell your own soy candles, your own bath soap, potpourri, your own seasoning blends, cookies, pies, cakes, and jellies at Farmers’ Markets. Get online and search for recipes. If you don’t want to load and unload your car to travel to these markets, check your local craft stores to pay for a space for your product (consignment).
Teach someone to do calligraphy, tole paint, crochet, build a birdhouse, decorate cakes. Advertise with a small ad in your local paper that you are giving classes in your home, set a price, tell them what they need to bring to the class and what you will provide. If the weather is nice, have the class in your yard.

While at Craigslist.com if do a search in different areas for Typist under the jobs category, you can find a few different stay at home options. Another good way to make money online is to use a blogging site, such as Xomba.com. Yes, you have to sign up for a Google Adsense account, and it takes a couple of days to get approved, but it will provide a little bit of cash flow. So far in the couple of weeks I have worked with Xomba/Adsense I have made $30. If you are willing to put in the time to type articles, really about anything you want them to be about, it can pay off.
Another decent site that I found is oDesk.com, you sign up for a COMPLETELY FREE membership, and they have HUNDREDS of different typing jobs available from HUNDREDS of different companies. You will need a Paypal account, or some account you can be payed through. Also, at oDesk you have to take a beginners test to ensure that you are “oDesk certified” for the companies. It’s really easy, it’s 11 questions long, and most of the answers are “All of the above.” Trust me I’ve taken it. An afterthought after skimming back through the comments. Brenda Mosher, unless you have between 1 to 5 years of Medical Transcripting under your belt, you aren’t going to find any good job in that field. Your best bet would be to look for a Data Entry job. They are much more simple, and require a lot less experiance.

But with all of that, I still continue to move forward,and take the bad experiences as part of life learning and challenges that we all must bear with, because as you all know there are way more bad than good in life and they will take advantage of people however they can, why? because they lust for MONEY!!!not because they want to provide a good life for their families.
